WOLFTEVER HOME #2
ROLE: ARCHITECT
Project Type: Single Family New Construction Location: Ooltewah, TN Square Footage: 1,500 Phase: Unbuilt
Project Description:
Designed for a couple seeking to downsize and live closer to family, this compact custom residence reinterprets traditional regional architecture through a warm and highly efficient modern plan. ALLY Architecture was asked to create a modestly scaled home that would support aging in place while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding wooded landscape and nearby family property.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional dogtrot typology, the design organizes the home and workshop as two distinct volumes connected by an open-air carport. This arrangement creates a sheltered outdoor transition space while reinforcing the project’s simple, rural character. The primary living spaces are centered around a vaulted great room that opens outward in two directions—toward a generous front porch on one side and a screened porch overlooking the woods on the other—allowing the home to feel closely tied to its natural setting.
The plan includes a primary suite along with two compact guest bedrooms intended for visiting family and grandchildren. Throughout the project, careful attention was given to efficiency, simplicity, and long-term livability, resulting in a home that feels both understated and deeply connected to the rhythms of everyday life.
