Grow Hope urban agriculture initiative is a program of the Hope for the Inner City Organization. It is not only a way of growing food in an urban environment, but a way for people to reclaim their connections to nature, to the act of eating, and to each other through the act of growing food, all without leaving the city. It’s also a movement through which people are gaining more independence from the current industrial food system, which is expensive and inefficient and relies on petrochemicals.

The desire for a mobile farm stand has long been a goal of the organization. The Farmstand is intended to expand Grow Hopes impact by providing equal access to fresh produce to a larger community.

We both designed and fabricated the Farmstand on a reclaimed single axle trailer. The stand is designed to be a place maker wherever set up. The stand includes four tables with umbrellas and the trailer with two levels of shelving and umbrellas.

The stand was unveiled and first put to use at the neighborhood’s annual festival, Glass Street LIVE, on October 8th, 2017.
