WOLFTEVER HOME #1
ROLE: ARCHITECT
Project Type: Single Family Location: Ooltewah, TN Unit Square Footage: 3,000sf Interior / 5,000sf Under Roof Phase: Unbuilt
Project Description:
Designed for a large, active family, this custom residence is organized around a protected central lawn that serves as both the physical and social heart of the home. Set within a rustic wooded landscape overlooking a creek, the design balances contemporary architecture with warm, natural materials and a strong connection to the outdoors.
A primary goal of the project was to create a home that could comfortably support a family member with mobility challenges by providing seamless accessibility throughout the residence and direct access to the outdoor living spaces without the need to navigate stairs. The plan carefully integrates these functional needs into the architecture in a way that feels natural and unobtrusive.
The home is arranged to clearly separate the more public gathering spaces from the private family wing. A large dining room anchors the shared living areas and was intentionally designed to accommodate extended family gatherings and entertaining. Upon entering the foyer, visitors are visually drawn through the house toward the central lawn and covered porch beyond, reinforcing the project’s strong indoor-outdoor relationship and creating a clear organizational axis through the home.
The private wing includes a primary suite, two additional bedroom suites, and a secluded family retreat space that provides a quieter area separate from the main entertaining spaces. Throughout the project, the architecture seeks to create a sense of refuge and connection to the landscape while supporting the rhythms of everyday family life.
